History
of Oom Yung Doe

Oom Yung Doe is a traditional martial arts line that traces its roots back 1500 to 2000 years. It follows the legend that a man named Bagwa was the founder of this martial arts lineage.

Over the centuries, many styles of East Asian Moo Doe were incorporated into the Oom Yung line, eventually forming what is known today as "Eight Martial Arts Taught as One." This approach integrates powerful, effective techniques from multiple disciplines into a single, unified method of training.

In the early 1970s, Grandmaster "Iron" Kim brought the Oom Yung Doe line to the United States. The techniques and movements he introduced reflect generations of refinement and wisdom.
Through his instruction, Oom Yung Doe has grown into a global martial arts system that continues to benefit students of all ages.

True Moo Doe Grandmasters

Throughout history, true Moo Doe Grandmasters have been rare and revered individuals. They dedicate themselves to perfecting physical, mental, and spiritual strength through disciplined training.

Every true Grandmaster upholds the principles of Chung Doe (the correct path) and upgrades the training steps to meet the needs of their generation without compromising the original principles.

Grandmaster "Iron" Kim, recognized as a true Moo Doe Grandmaster, has continued this tradition. His upgrades to the training consider modern stresses such as environmental toxins, sedentary lifestyles, and the impact of technology on the body and mind. Despite adapting to modern conditions, he has preserved the core values and standards that distinguish true Moo Doe from basic exercise.

True Grandmasters do not alter the foundation of their practice for convenience or popularity. To do so would mean forfeiting the powerful benefits that only come from genuine Moo Doe training.

A Living Lineage

The forms and movements taught in Oom Yung Doe are not just remnants of the past but a living, evolving practice passed down from Grandmaster to Grandmaster. Each generation refines the knowledge and gives it a unique name, while always remaining rooted in the original principles.

The seventh-generation Grandmaster, Wang Po, taught under the name Yin Yang Doe. Today, Grandmaster "Iron" Kim carries the lineage forward through Oom Yung Doe and Chung Moo Doe.

Students across the world continue to benefit from the training, learning movements and philosophy that have been refined over centuries and proven through countless real-world demonstrations.

Oom Yung Doe remains one of the few martial arts traditions still taught directly by a living Grandmaster and his qualified line of instructors, preserving a legacy that is both ancient and highly relevant today.
