Why should women train?
The threat of violence, especially against women, is a terrible problem that impacts people from all countries and walks of life. Women in particular tend to be the targets of violence because of our smaller size. Global estimates published by the World Health Organization (WHO) indicate that nearly 35% or 1 in 3 women world-wide have experienced some form of sexual violence. According to the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (RAINN), nearly 25% of undergraduate women experience sexual violence at colleges. Nearly 1 in 3 women experience physical violence from intimate partners or domestic violence. These statistics are both terrifying and shocking.
Fortunately it is possible to change your story and avoid being another statistic. In addition to physical movements for self-defense, martial arts training also address situational awareness and the psychological aspects of applying self-defense. Through practice, women gain confidence in their skills that reduces the likely hood of being attacked in the first place. Fighting back through running or screaming increased the odds of the women getting away from their attackers. |

See what you can Gain!
Self Defense skills and confidence may be the first thing a woman might think of gaining from martial arts training, but they are not the only things that are possible. The photos (left) show that even in just four months of consistent practice for three days per week, it is possible to improve physical strength and condition. Strength and endurance that can be used to keep up with the family or to simply enjoy personal hobbies like hiking, biking, or running.

In the video at the right, one blocking technique is demonstrated against multiple different attacks. This block is quickly effective against a variety of attacks from the front. In addition, with proper practice and strength development, the technique can lead into a wider variety of counter-attacks based on situations like the height or body positioning of an attacker.
Whether you take a 1 day seminar, a 6 Week Self-Defense course, or commit to earning your 1st Degree Black Belt, the movements are focused on self-defense techniques that work well with a woman's natural strengths. You will find improvement in yourself both mentally and physically. |
