As a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the spirit of generosity and giving back to the community as at the heart of what we do. Our mission is to promote a healthier more vibrant community through connecting individuals to the principles and movement of Traditional Martial Arts. We are passionate about what we do for our community and the lives that are improved through movement, especially for those who are most at-risk for increased emotional, mental, and physical challenges. We believe that by empowering individuals to strive toward their best possible self we build a stronger, more vibrant, and positive community.
Whether you are a current or past student at one of our physical locations in Seattle or San Diego, or you met us at a community event, when you choose to give through money, time, or advocating for our cause, our programs are successful. Our programs and impact in the community are growing because of your generosity and sincere interest in our mission. Your support means we can focus on expanding our Women's Self-Defense groups to include other marginalized identities and communities. By advocating for our cause, we bring Tai Chi, Stress Relief, and mobility programs to busy individuals who otherwise might not be able to take time for their own mental and physical health. When you donate, we can provide positive community and opportunities for children and teens to help resist negative peer pressure and give them positive role models while building long term life skills. Every donation helps and there is no amount too small to help individuals in your community improve their lives, making our world a better place. Use one of the options below to complete your donation. When making your donation, be sure to check with your employer for Corporate Donation Matching. Many big corporations have donation matching policies so your donation makes an even bigger impact. We are registered with Benevity (Microsoft & T-Mobile) and GuideStar (Amazon). If your company uses something else, let us know, we're always happy to hear about new opportunities. If you want to make a long term impact, consider becoming an Investment Donor. Investment Donors make re-occurring donations to their favorite charities as a regular charge to their credit cards or bank accounts. Other Ways to Make an Impact
Donating isn't the only way to show your support for our mission. Your voice and your time can make just as big an impact on our programs and with the communities we serve. Here are some other ways you can show your support and become part of the mission.
- Advocate! Your voice and your passion are our strongest connection to our communities. Our most successful community programs were originally sponsored by community members just like you who knew somebody and opened a conversation about hosting an event. E-mail us at [email protected] if you have an opportunity you would like to share.
- Volunteer! Whether you are local to one of our schools or live farther away there are a variety of opportunities available to support our mission. If you have graphic design skills, enjoy putting together content for social media, want to help set up for events, or other activities, email us at [email protected] to see what is currently available.
- Share! Let your friends, family, and neighbors hear about wour programs and invite them to participate with you. You can share through Facebook and Instagram with your internet community or leave a review on Google or Facebook for any of our schools.
- Fundraise! Start a fund raiser on Facebook or other platforms to help raise money for programs such as Women’s Self Defense, Senior Mobility, or anti-bullying. On Facebook you can log on and choose Fundraiser from the navigation bar. Choose to raise money for a non-profit and look for Oom Yung Doe @ Kirkland.
