6/23/01
Instructors were asked to demonstrate at the Seattle Center Saturday night as part of a community event, sponsored by AT&T Outdoor Cinema. Two local bands attracted an lively audience of all ages but most were there for the outdoor showing of the popular film Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Instructors demonstrated Kom, as illustrated here, one of the weapons portrayed in the film, as well as a few other forms to give the audience a sense of what can be gained from training empty handed as well as with weapons. The demonstration ended with a impressive Jongbong sparring sequence.
Also explained were the principles of Chung Doe, the right path, and Pa Doe, the wrong path. The film demonstrates the repercussions of following Pa Doe or the wrong path by only being concerned with physical development and recognition. It also shows an individual played by Chow Yung Fat who is trying to follow the the Chung Doe, or right path, by diligently seeking enlightenment through upholding the principles of honor, integrity, loyalty and compassion. |
